# Move Participant Between Distances

## Move a participant to another distance in the same race – right away, or by asking them to pay any price difference.

**Good to know**

- You can move a participant to another distance in the same race.
- If the new distance costs more, or you want to charge a change fee, choose **Request participant to pay**. Otherwise choose **Change now**.
- The rules of the new distance apply, for example age validations.
- The participant gets a new bib number in the new distance.

### How to move a participant

1\. Log in to Pace Admin and open your race.

2\. Under **Distances**, click the distance the participant is registered in.

3\. Click **⋮** next to the participant and choose **Change distance**.

4\. Under **Transfer to Distance**, choose the new distance. Then choose how the change should happen:

- **Request participant to pay** – they get an email to confirm the new distance and pay any price difference plus the change fee.
- **Change now** – moves them immediately. No charge, no email.

5\. **Request participant to pay:** enter a **Change fee** if you want to charge one (leave it empty for no fee), check what the participant pays and click **Send request**.

- The participant pays the price difference (new distance price minus what they already paid, excl. VAT) plus the change fee. If the old distance cost more, the difference is EUR 0.00.
- They get a link to confirm and pay, valid for 72 hours. Their current registration stays active until then.
- The fee can’t be changed once the request is sent – a new request replaces the old one.
- If there is no payment on record (for example for imported participants), they are charged the full price of the new distance.

6\. **Change now:** click **Transfer to Distance**.

7\. Done! The participant is now in the new distance. With **Request participant to pay**, the move happens when the participant has confirmed and paid.

### Note

- If you have custom field information that should follow the participant to the new distance, add it for each custom field in the start list of the new distance after the move.
