# Participant self-service: edit, transfer or change distance

## Let participants fix their own registration details, transfer their entry or switch to another distance, without having to contact you.

Self-service is set up per distance. There are three options:

- **Edit Registration**: participants update their own details, for example phone number, club or class.
- **Transfer Registration**: participants hand over their entry to another person.
- **Change distance** (new): participants switch to another distance in the same race.

### Turn on self-service

1\. In Pace Admin, open your race. Under **Distances**, click **•••** on the distance and choose **Edit**.

2\. Go to **Additional Options** and switch on **Self Services**. A new step, **Self services**, appears in the Steps menu.

3\. Open **Self services** and switch on the options you want to offer.

### Edit Registration

Switch on **Edit Registration** and set **From Date** and **To Date**, the period when participants can edit. Participants can update their personal details, but not custom fields.

### Transfer Registration

Switch on **Transfer Registration**, set **From Date** and **To Date**, and add a **Transfer Fee** if you want to charge one (0 = free). [Read more about transfers](https://support.raceid.com/transfer-registration-for-race-organizers?hsLang=en).

### Change distance

1\. Switch on **Change distance**.

2\. Set **From Date** and **To Date**. Outside this period, participants can't change distance.

3\. Set the **Change distance fee**. It's a flat fee, whichever distance the participant moves to. Enter 0 to make it free.

4\. Under **Distances participants may move to**, choose:

- **Allow all eligible distances**: any distance in the race that still has spots left.
- **Only the distances I select**: pick the distances from the list.

### Save

Click **Save & Exit**. Done! Participants can now use the options you switched on during the dates you set.
